How to get the best out of your central heating system and reduce your fuel bills.
- Ensure curtains are lined, they do not hang over the radiator and are closed after dark.
- To lower room temperature turn down the room thermostat before opening windows.
- Avoid unnecessary heat wastage by ensuring all doors a properly closed.
- Turn off radiators in rooms that are only used occasionally.
- Check hot taps are fully turned off.
- Only fill the bath with a much hot water as necessary.
- When away in summer months turn off the boiler. If you also turn off the gas and electricity remember to switch them back on and reset the programmer on your return.
If the radiators do not warm up check:
- Is room thermostat turned up high?
- Is programmer calling for heat?
- Are radiator thermostats turned up high?
Plumming from the flue terminal
- All condensing boilers produce a plume of water vapour from the flue terminal. Plumming is due to the low flue gas temperature obtained from high efficiency boilers causing water vapour to condense as it leaves the flue terminal. This may increase in cold, damp weather - It is nothing to be concerned about and shows that the boiler is operating efficiently.
